The first occupants of the area were already drinking a beverage made from fermented grape juice. There is direct evidence of this, provided not least by archaeological digs that have unearthed numerous botanical finds, around 200 whole grape seeds and more than 400 fragments. <\/span><\/p><p> <\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was during the Paleo-Venetian civilization (1200 BC) that wine came into widespread use, due largely to the symbolic power it supposedly held, then with the arrival of the Romans in the Euganean region, people began to grow vines and make use of the fruit, and the juice became a very common and popular drink, almost always mixed with honey and spices. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-32a9b4c elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"32a9b4c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cantinalevolpi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/vigneti-colli-euganei-1.jpg\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7c21b5a e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"7c21b5a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d020cc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2d020cc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The monasteries and Petrarch<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab5ed7f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab5ed7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Middle Ages, monasteries and abbeys played a decisive role in safeguarding agricultural and viticulture practices.
